Innovative projects excellent: Reinickendorf celebrates environmental protection!

On December 19, 2024, the highly expected environmental award was awarded in the Reinickendorf district. This honor, which is awarded every two years by a specialist jury, recognizes outstanding projects that are devoted to nature, climate, ground or water protection. This year, the award winners are the "Bunte Aue Tegel Süd" in cooperation with the NABU district group Reinickendorf in 1st place, followed by the "natural meadow on the winter road" and the project "Biodiversity comes from here!" of the Emil Fischer School. Julia Schrod-Thiel, District Councilor of the Department of Order, Environment and Transport, underlined the diversity and impressive influence, the local commitment to environmental protection, and encouraged citizens to continue to develop creative ideas.

innovative residential projects as an example of environmental protection

In the context of the environmental protection efforts, the newly completed generation house at Holländerstraße 36q-S in Reinickendorf is also mentioned. This project, which was completed in 2024, comprises 43 rental apartments, which is made by the city citizenship of 2010 e.G. were initiated. The buildings are characterized by a protected garden, which serves as a "green salon" for community and relaxation. Innovative approaches from architecture, inspired by historical settlements such as the Schillerpark by Bruno Taut, were integrated into modern residential construction. In addition, the residential complexes are built according to the KfW 55 standard, which guarantees excellent energetic values. The heating takes place via a combined PVT system on the roof, and special measures are seeped away by the rainwater on the property.

These two initiatives together show how environmental engagement and innovative urban development can go hand in hand. While the environmental prize recognizes excellent local projects, the generation house sets standards in sustainable housing. Reinickendorf demonstrates that responsible action and modern architecture form the basis for sustainable urban development, as well as Mein.Berlin.de reports.
