Ilse Schendel - 101 years full of joie de vivre

The 101-year-old Ilse Schendel recently congratulated district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner for her birthday. Ilse Schendel, born and still resident at Konradshöhe, was active all her life and even took sports up to the age of 99. Known in her family as a "rock in the surf", her family was always able to rely on her. Despite her old age, Ilse Schendel has never lost her humor and is happy about what is still possible.

In her youth, Ilse Schendel was strongly shaped by the war times. After an apprenticeship as a tailor on Kurfürstendamm, she worked for the company "Theaterkunst", which supplied Berlin theater with costumes. Later she accompanied a director in her own studio at the West Theater and got to know many celebrities over the years, for whom she made tailor -made clothing. She also made tailor -made tournament dresses, for example for the well -known dance school Mangelsdorff in Tegel.

Nowadays, Ilse Schendel mostly enjoys her garden and the fact that her daughter has acquired the neighboring property and lives right next door. She looks grateful to her daughter and says that without her proximity she probably could no longer live alone in her house.
