Reinickendorf, a district in Berlin, has to celebrate a new hundred -year -old - Rosemarie Wilhelm from Heiligensee. Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner had only recently had the opportunity to personally deliver the congratulations and flowers of the district office.

Rosemarie Wilhelm is described as a quick -living, humorous and dominant in the family. Despite two knee operations, she actively keeps fit with morning gymnastics. In the past, she actively did sports, including rowing and athletics. Healthy food with lots of fruit and vegetables as well as regular sporting activities have always been good.

After training as a retail clerk, she worked her entire professional life in the textile and fashion industry. Open to new trends, she is enthusiastic about everything new. In retrospect for her life, she says: "It is wonderful to remember all the people, experiences and encounters that have accompanied me for 100 years."

Despite the initial resistance to day care, this is now used at least once a week. The son organizes a varied program for his mother together with friends and acquaintances for the rest of the week. On Sundays, the way together leads to lunch into the Tegeler Seeterrassen, where, according to Rosemarie Wilhelm, it is always very nice.

It is inspiring to see how active and cheerful a hundred -year -old can be and how important social activities and regular exercise can be for a long and fulfilling life. Rosemarie Wilhelm's story shows that age does not have to be an obstacle to continue to participate in life and gain new experiences.
