History of the Basic Law: Lecture with chief historian Dr. Michael F. Feldkamp
On May 28, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., a special event will take place in the Humboldt Library in Berlin-a lecture on the history of the Basic Law. The renowned chief historian of the German Bundestag, Dr. Michael F. Feldkamp, will shed light on the creation of the Basic Law with his well -founded knowledge and entertaining narrative style. This lecture is particularly relevant, since on September 1, 1948 the parliamentary council in Bonn was founded on the order of the Western Allies in order to create a constitution for the West German sub -state. Konrad Adenauer, the later Federal Chancellor, played a crucial role as President of the Parliamentary Council.
The origin of the Basic Law under occupation rule was one of the major challenges of the post -war years. In his book "Adenauer, the Allies and the Basic Law", Dr. Feldkamp the attempts by the SPD to discredit Adenauer's role. As an expert in the history of the Basic Law, the historian has made a name for himself and was significantly involved in the publication of the files of the parliamentary council.
