Bus line X26: Students are committed to a better connection

On June 22, 2024, a test drive of the bus line X26 took place in the neighboring community of Glienicke/Nordbahn. In addition to numerous interested parties, the deputy mayor from Glienicke Jana Klätke (independent) and the district councilor for order, environment and transport from Reinickendorf Julia Schrod-Thiel (CDU) also took part in the tour. In particular, the 16-year-old student Ben Hennig from Frohnau was committed to the bus line by working on the route in the past two years, carrying out surveys and presenting his ideas.

The test drive showed the high interest of the population in an improved cross -municipal connection of local public transport. The district councilor Schrod-Thiel emphasized the importance of bus connections for the mobility of various population groups and assured Ben Hennig to discuss his concerns in Reinickendorf and to carry them to the responsible transport companies and the Berlin Senate Administration.

The traffic connection between the neighboring municipalities of Berlin and Brandenburg is a recurring topic. The establishment of a new final stop at the S-Bahn station in Hermsdorf and the optimization of traffic safety at Bahnhofplatz are examples of how municipalities work together on improvements in public transport. The test drive of the X26 is another step in this direction in order to be able to make additional offers.

The deputy mayor Klätke from Glienicke praised Ben Hennig's commitment and described his work as a great performance for such a young man who dealt intensively with the topic of better bus connections between Reinickendorf and Glienicke. This commitment shows how important it is that citizens are actively involved in the design of local public transport. Such commitment can help to sustainably improve mobility in a region.

Overall, the test drive of the X26 illustrates the importance of well -developed and networked public transport, which not only increase the mobility of the citizens, but also contribute to relief for private transport and to improve the environment. It is to be hoped that initiatives such as Ben Hennig will continue to be supported and implemented in the future to ensure environmentally friendly and efficient mobility in the region.
