District Mayor invites: Dance demonstration 'One Billion Rising - against violence against girls and women'

The district of Reinickendorf invites you to participate in the dance demonstration "One Billion Rising - against violence against girls and women" on February 14th in front of the Brandenburg Gate. According to UN, one billion women are victims of violence worldwide. The movement was launched in 2012 by the artist and feminist Eve Ensler and calls for protesting violence against girls and women.

The dance demonstration takes place at 4 p.m. with information and action stands, in which various organizations such as the State Sports Association Berlin, the Berlin initiative against violence to women e.V. (BIG), Terre des Femmes e.V., Sisters Berlin e.V. and others are represented. There will also be prominent support, including the parliamentary State Secretary Ekin Deligöz and a video leader from Minister of Women Lisa Paus. Live performances by Jocelyn B. Smith, Lucille-Mareen Mayr and Alex of Stella rocks! are also planned.

The campaign of the Reinickendorfer girls and boys-spor-center Center Talma of the GSJ Society for Sports and Youth Social Work has organized the Berlin Dance Demo in front of the Brandenburg Gate since 2013 and is thus actively working against violence against girls and women.

The "One Billion Rising" movement aims to draw attention to the problem of violence against women and girls and to show solidarity. In many countries there are the same actions on Valentine's Day to set a sign against violence and to stand up for more equality.
