Berlin CDU starts initiative: Suggestion for the day of loneliness on December 16

The CDU parliamentary group is committed to the "day of loneliness"

The CDU parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives recently decided to introduce December 16 as a "day of loneliness". This proposal is based on the initiative of the district mayor of Reinickendorf, Emine Demirbüken-Wegner, who put the topic of loneliness into public perception.

In Reinickendorf, a loneliness summit will be held on December 16 this year, which is considered an important step to strengthen awareness of the topic. The CDU MPs argue that every tenth resident of Berlin is affected by social loneliness and that there is a risk of health problems.

Older people are often particularly affected by loneliness, especially in times such as Christmas time when loneliness is particularly noticeable. The CDU parliamentary group therefore calls for special support measures for those affected.

This initiative of the CDU parliamentary group follows the loneliness strategy, which was launched by district mayor Demirbüken-Wegner and is currently being implemented in Reinickendorf. The "Day of Loneliness" on December 16, 2024 should be another milestone on the way to increased awareness of the topic.
