redesign urban rooms: Invitation to the neighborhood conference

Invitation to participate

The regional incubator Berlin Südwest (RIK) and the social space-oriented planning coordination Steglitz-Zehlendorf (SPK) invite all interested Berliners to the Kiez conference on 5. September 2024 im artist colony Berlin e.v. . The central discussion point will be the topic of "more space in the city - opportunities for redesigning Breitenbachplatz" .

Change of mobility in Berlin

Over the past few decades, Berlin has primarily been designed as a "Autostadt", which favored motorized private transport. With the ongoing traffic and energy transition as well as the need for more green and livable city areas, the focus is on the redesign of urban areas. The Breitenbachplatz is a good example here, because the demolition work of the lane ceiling of the A104 bridge construction will transform this place into a less paved environment.

important actors and their roles

As part of the 25. RegioTalk will have important personalities. Moderated by Juri Effenberg , take, among other things, Patrick Steinhoff , district councilor for urban development, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Knie from the Berlin Science Center for Social Research in the conference. These experts will share their perspectives and ideas for the future design of Breitenbachplatz with the citizens.

participation of citizens: Fine funds for local projects

A central concern of the neighborhood conference is to offer citizens a platform to bring their opinions and ideas for redesign. The SPK will also present the "fine remedies" that evening. This grant supports committed citizens' initiatives with up to EUR 2,000 in order to set up local projects. The projects successfully implemented as part of this funding are presented.

importance of a city worth living

The regiotal offers a valuable space for the exchange between citizens, administration and local actors. This dialog makes it possible to develop future -proof and innovative solutions for the urban challenges, which ultimately leads to an increased quality of life for all residents.
