Rainbow flag in front of Rathaus Dallgow lit again - act causes horror!
In the Brandenburg community of Dallgow-Döberitz, the rainbow flag in front of the town hall again became the target of a fig attack. In the early Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, the Havelland police inspection discovered the flag during a patrol ride, heavily damaged by a fire. Information published on [RBB24] (https://www.rbb24.de/panorama/2025/06/brandenburg- Regenbogenflagge-rathaus-dallgow-doberitz-angl) confirm that the flag was "largely damaged". As a result, an advertisement for sedition and property damage was filed, while the criminal police have taken over the investigation.
This incident is not the first of its kind. Already on the night of June 13, 2023, the rainbow flag was lit in front of the town hall in Dallgow-Döberitz. A year later, the flag even completely disappeared, which clearly illustrates the persistent problem of discrimination and attack on the LGBTQ+community in the process.
solemn recovery
As a sign of resistance, a new rainbow flag was raised on June 1, 2025, as part of the annual Pride Month. This decision was supported during a public event by Mayor Sven Richter, the chairman of the Harald Wunderlich municipal council and the state representative for equality, Manuela Dörnenburg. The flag was and remains a symbol of the rights of queer people, including lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transpoors or interlexible people.
The first flag that was hoisted with a lot of enthusiasm and solidarity had to be removed immediately after the fire. Those present in the new hiss were clearly commented on the symbolism and meaning of the flag. In his speech, Harald Wunderlich recalled the persecution of homosexual men 80 years ago and emphasized how important it was to maintain such traditions. Despite the disgusting attacks, the assembled were determined to let the flag blow blowing until the end of Pride Month on June 30, 2025.
The meaning of the rainbow flag
The rainbow flag is much more than just a colorful fabric. It symbolizes the pride and visibility of the LGBTQ+community and thus set a sign against discrimination. In recent years, new designs have been offered, such as the six-striped flag developed by the Tumblr blogger “Gayflagblog” in 2019, which highlights special aspects of the queer identity, such as community, healing and strength. These new designs should reflect diversity within the community, even if they are more expensive in production. Information on the entire development of the Pride flags can be found on Queer-Lexikon.
The renewed fire attack on the rainbow flag in Dallgow-Döberitz, meanwhile, shows that the struggle for equality and acceptance for queer people is far from over. It remains to be hoped that the police will receive clues to possible perpetrators and that those responsible can be held accountable.
