Reformation day in Wittenberg: Sermon and celebrations for the Luther anniversary!
In the Lutherstadt Wittenberg, the president of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany, Heinrich, will give an important sermon on the Reformation Day. This day is a legal holiday in nine out of 16 federal states, especially in the northern and eastern regions, with the exception of Berlin. On October 31, Protestants worldwide commemorate the basic stones of the Evangelical Church, which were laid about 500 years ago when Martin Luther hit his 95 theses to the door of the castle church and thus launched a massive reform movement.
While the Evangelical Christians are celebrating this historical moment, the popular festival festival Halloween is celebrated in many parts of the world, which is often associated with Celtic origins. The Reformation Day and Halloween thus fall on the same day, which makes the cultural celebrations particularly diverse on this date. Further Details on this tradition and celebrations can be found in a recent report on www.deutschlandfunk.de .
