Interview with forensic doctors Michael Tsokos: About forensic medicine, politics and mysterious deaths
The renowned forensic doctor Michael Tsokos recently spoke in an interview about his time at the Charité and his review of his professional career. Tsokos emphasized that forensic medicine and pathology are two different disciplines. He described how he saw his first dead at the age of eleven and how this incident influenced his way to forensic medicine.
tsokos said that he consciously decided on forensic medicine to help people through his knowledge and research. He also reflected on the challenges of studying medicine and noted that the access requirements were often too restrictive, which means that potentially capable doctors would be excluded.
Furthermore, Tsokos spoke about his farewell to the Charité at the end of 2023, where he criticized the political orientation of the institution. He emphasized the importance of factual training in forensic medicine and showed how the freedom of political influences for independent medical practice was essential.
In addition, he spoke about the need for a well -founded corporal show by appropriately trained staff, since many homicides in Germany are not recognized. Tsokos also showed interest in old investigative files of prominent cases such as the death of Whitney Houston and Kurt Cobain, where he brought alternative causes of death.
