RBB starts TikTok channel: DeinDailyupdate” informs the gen z!
Berlin, Deutschland - The Bundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) has launched a new TikTok channel with “@deindailyupdate”, which is aimed specifically at young people in Berlin and Brandenburg. The channel is a cooperation between RBB24 and Fritz and deals with a variety of topics, including politics, living, trends, gaming, pop culture and lifestyle. The hosts Rafaela Roza and Noelia Sanchez Barón design content that are both informative and entertaining to actively involve the audience and promote an exchange.
The concept of "DeinDailyupdate" aims to sensitize younger target groups for regional topics and offer them up-to-date updates from the RBB newsrooms. In addition to background videos on regional peculiarities, such as the holiday on May 8, the rising prices in Berlin outdoor pools or the tree blossom festival in Werder (Havel), street surveys are also planned. The channel currently publishes around five contributions per week with the aim of increasing this to a daily frequency, such as dwdl reports.
interactive communication and community guidelines
A central goal of "DeinDailyupdate" is to promote the dialogue between the users. Spectators are encouraged to submit questions, feedback, personal experiences or topic suggestions in the comment column or by direct message. It is important to observe the basic rules for respectful and accurate exchange. Racist, discriminatory or violent content are strictly prohibited, as are personal attacks or the spread of fake news. This underlines the responsibility associated with the use of social media, a topic that also appeals rbb24
The media landscape has changed in recent years, especially for generation Z, which increasingly uses social networks such as Tiktok, Instagram and YouTube as a source of information. According to the Mediennetzwerk Bavaria, platforms such as Instagram and YouTube are now the preferred sources for news in this age group. 64% of Generation Z indicate to use social media for information every day, and 30% consider these platforms as their most important news source.
The challenges of news brokerage on social media
The increasing use of social media not only brings new opportunities for the spread of information, but also challenges. In particular, the spread of fake news is a serious problem that journalists and media companies have to actively oppose. Over 48% of social media users in Germany often or occasionally encounter fake news. Therefore, it is of central importance that new formats, such as "DeinDailyupdate", achieve users with verified information and increase interest in news.
In order to meet these challenges, media houses should develop entertaining and interactive formats. Clear language, storytelling and the integration of personalities are further recommendations to create credibility and actively involve users. "DeinDailyupdate" is a step in this direction to raise awareness of the young generation to regional topics and at the same time to support them in their search for information.
