Quality assurance in German control centers: The role of emergency rescue in cardiovascular homes
The increasing importance of the control centers in emergency rescue
Berlin-"Emergency rescue-if the help fails", is a shattering knowledge based on the often missing standards in German control centers and leads to poorer care for cardiovascular queues. The role of the control centers goes far beyond the mere arrival of the rescue workers and already begins on the phone, where the employees of the emergency call control centers give important security instructions and lead life-saving measures such as the cardiac massage.
However, research by the SWR shows that a structured or standardized emergency query is missing in every fifth control center in Germany, also known as SNA or SNAP. These evaluated systems can quickly classify severe emergencies by asking targeted standardized questions. However, it is always assumed that the caller is good to lead.
The specialist working group control center of the German Fire Brigade Union has already pointed out this problem in a statement on the reform of emergency and acute care in Germany. It is not just about asking standardized questions in the emergency call dialog, but also being specifically forwarded to the telephoneeanimation. A software-based emergency query should also be associated with a quality management system, emphasizes Helge Petersen from the AG control center of the German Fire Brigade Union.
The SWR's studies clearly show that Germany is an inconsistent patchwork with regard to the qualification of the control center staff and working methods. It is possible to regulate and standardize a lot through nationwide legislation. Although federalism is estimated in Germany, many decisions in terms of control center matters are a country matter, which leads to different approaches depending on the medical management. Therefore, the federal health reform was a central topic at this year's control center symposium in Bremerhaven.
Helge Petersen comments as follows: "We welcome that the draft law for reforming emergency care in the Federal Cabinet on July 17, 2024, however, regret that the expertise from control centers has not been emphasized.
The knowledge from different sources illustrates how important it is to improve the standards and working methods in German control centers to ensure high -quality emergency rescue. Efficient care in emergencies can only be guaranteed by a structured and standardized approach. The discussion about the role of the control centers in emergency rescue is therefore becoming increasingly important to protect people's lives in danger and to offer the best possible help.
