Positive interim balance: Identity shows effect - violence in Berlin outdoor pools goes back
Positive interim balance: Identity shows effect - violence in Berlin outdoor pools goes back
Obligation to identify in Berlin's outdoor pools shows positive effects
Since July 19, the duty of ID for all persons from the age of 14 has been in the outdoor pools of Berlin. Only those who can show a valid ID may enter the bathroom. After a week, the Berlin Baths (BBB) draw a positive intermediate conclusion.
dr. Johannes Kleinsorg, CEO of the BBB, emphasizes that the obligation to identify is an important component in order to prevent violence in the baths. The regulation already shows effect and the situation in the outdoor pools has calmed down significantly. The bathers who understand this regulation are thanked.
In the weeks before the introduction of the ID ceases, violent incidents in the city's summer pools occurred again and again. The police had to intervene several times and the bans were pronounced, especially in the Columbiabad in Neukölln and in the Prinzenbad in Kreuzberg.
Since the introduction of the ID requirement, around 34,000 guests have visited the baths and no house was banned. However, the lower number of visitors is also due to the cool weather. Entry was not granted only occasionally because no ID documents were presented.
In order to discuss further preventive measures in the outdoor pools, a working group for security from the BBB in cooperation with the Berlin police, the Senate Department for Interior and Sports as well as social organizations is planning.
