Police officer in Berlin suspected of embezzling foreign property

The Berlin police are currently the focus of the investigation into the allegation of embezzlement. A police officer is said to have embezzled foreign property in a deployment in Görlitzer Park.

On Monday, both the service and private rooms of the police officer concerned were searched. A judicial search decision enabled access to the premises. The police reported on the incident on Tuesday.

The allegation refers to an operation in Görlitzer Park on July 6th. The police officer is accused of taking electronic devices out of a backpack. The owner of the bag is said to have left them when the officials arrived.

The embezzlement was noticed by another police officer, who then gave a hint. The State Criminal Police Office and the Berlin public prosecutor's office then started the investigation to check the accusation.

The electronic devices could be ensured during the search. The investigation and the disciplinary consequences for the police officer concerned are still pending and have not yet been completed.

It remains to be seen which consequences of the police officers can now expect and whether the investigation can prove a violation of criminal law. The official's private rooms were searched and obviously stressful material was ensured. So far, the police have not released any further information about the suspect. It can be assumed that the investigations will continue to clarify the allegations and, if necessary, take legal action.
