Police are looking for witnesses: attack in the Volkspark Humboldthain!
on March 31, 2024, around 8.30 a.m., a woman in the Volkspark Humboldthain in Berlin was the victim of an attempted sexual offense. The suspect, a previously unknown man, had met the woman in public transport and then persuaded her to visit the park together. There it came to the attack when the man brought the woman to the ground and tried to perform sexual acts against her against her will. After a brave resistance of the woman, the perpetrator let off his project so that she could escape. The Berlin police have now initiated a search with the publication of photos of the searched to obtain information from the population. At the time of the crime, the man was sought -after a dark sweater, jeans and black sneakers, reports the police on their official website.
In addition, the DPolG Berlin provides information about the constant increase in the proportion of women within the police. With almost 40 percent female enforcement staff, it becomes clear that more women are active in police work and that the organization decisively help shape. In the DPolG, special emphasis is placed on the women's and family-friendly design of working conditions in order to offer targeted support for challenges such as the reconciliation of work and family. Topics such as violence against women, family violence and the promotion of qualified part -time jobs are actively tackled. This shows the commitment of the DPolG to fight for equal opportunities and equality in the police service, as explained on the DPolG Berlin website.
The incidents and developments of the past few weeks illustrate the need for increased protection and the promotion of the safety of women, both within and outside of the police. It is now to be hoped that the search for the perpetrator will bring success and further attacks can be prevented.
