Police intervene: arrests in controversial Berlin demonstrations
in Berlin there was a police operation due to anti -Israel exclusion during propalestinian demonstrations on Alexanderplatz. On Friday evening, a total of ten people were temporarily arrested, including a man who torn paper flags from the State of Israel in front of the assembled audience. At another meeting with around 100 participants, which took place under the motto "Stop the war", those present repeatedly shouted slogans against Israel. The police asked the meeting management to be de -escalating, but that didn't necessarily bother the mood.
The police were in action with around 400 officers and is now investigating for insulting and suspicion of using symbols of unconstitutional organizations. The mother of an eleven -year -old child is also the focus of the investigation because the child kept speech at the rally. For this weekend, the police are planning a large contingent on the occasion of the anniversary of the Hamas massacre. Around 2,000 police officers are expected in Berlin, supported by Interior Senator Iris Spranger. She made it clear that anti -Semitic statements are consistently encountered.
