Parking in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf will be significantly more expensive from August
Finding a parking space in Berlin's city center is difficult anyway - and mostly drivers have to pay for it. It will be particularly expensive in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf from Tuesday. The Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf will increase the parking fees in several zones from Tuesday. This was announced by the district office on Monday. In addition, two new parking zones are set up: Zone 120 in the Prague Platz and Zone 121 district in the Babelsberger Straße district.
The tariffs in Parkzones 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17 and 19 and in the street sections Kurfürstendamm from Schlüterstrasse up to and including Tauentzienstraße are increased. From August, instead of one, two or three euros per hour, two, three or four euros must now be paid. It gets particularly expensive around the Breitscheidplatz in City West.
residents can apply for parking cards
The corresponding signage can only be gradually adjusted for capacity reasons, according to the district. This adjustment should be made by the end of the year. With the additional parking zones, the “parking print” in the areas is to be reduced, according to the district office. Residents and traders can apply for corresponding parking cards. According to the district, a resident parking license currently costs 20.40 euros and is valid for two years.
Park zones especially within the S-Bahn ring
The district office expects that a large part of the residents have no parking permit at the start of the parking zones. Therefore, it is temporarily sufficient to clearly visible a copy of the submitted application form for the employees of the regulatory office behind the windshield. The arrangement and setting up of parking zones is up to the districts. Especially within the S-Bahn ring, drivers have to pay for parking in many places, as a map of the Berlin.de City Portal shows. Outside, parking space management is rather the exception - for example on Steglitzer Schloßstraße or around the old town of Spandau.
