Solidarity station Book: Contemporary witnesses are reminiscent of special medical care

Die Stadtteilbibliothek Buch präsentiert derzeit die Wanderausstellung des Museums Pankow mit dem Titel „Solidaritätsstation Jacob Morenga. Namibische Patient*innen im Klinikum Berlin-Buch“. The Buch district library is currently presenting the hiking exhibition of the Pankow Museum with the title "Solidarity station Jacob Morenga. Namibian patient in the Berlin-Buch Clinic". Visitors have the opportunity to visit the exhibition by August 24, 2024. Solidarity station Book: Contemporary witnesses are reminiscent of special medical care

The district library Buch is currently presenting the hiking exhibition of the Pankow Museum with the title "Solidarity station Jacob Morenga. Namibian patients in the Berlin-Buch Clinic". Visitors have the opportunity to visit the exhibition by August 24, 2024. A special highlight is the accompanying event on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 4:00 p.m., to which everyone interested is cordially invited.

The solidarity station in the East Berlin Clinic Buch was a place from 1978 to 1991, where more than 800 people from almost 40 countries were medical. These patients were wounded in the inside: inside or political activist: inside with a socialist orientation. After their treatment in the GDR, they returned to their home countries or to the war locations. Many of the patients came from today's Namibia, which was once a German colony until the First World War.

The accompanying event offers the opportunity to exchange memories and perspectives on the solidarity station in a conversation with contemporary witnesses. Special guests like Dr. Christian Zippel, former chief physician in the Buch Clinic, Reinhold Mupupa, former patient of the station, and Philemon Sheya Kaluwapa from the Lukopane Namibia Culture Association will be present. The moderation takes over Bernt Roder, head of the Pankow Museum. The artist Laura Horelli will document the event in film.

In addition to the accompanying event, three guided tours through the hiking exhibition will take place in June and July. These are planned for June 17th, July 4th and July 11th at 4:00 p.m. After staying in the Buch district library, the exhibition will be shown in the Pankow town hall from the beginning of September.

The history of the solidarity station is an important chapter in the history of the East Berlin Clinic Buch and the medical care of patients: inside from different countries. The exhibition and the accompanying events offer a unique way to deal with this historical topic and to appreciate the solidarity and medical care of past times.
