Silent Disco: A new community experience in the Pankow
community parkOn Saturday, September 14, 2024, the Bürgerpark in Pankow is transformed into a unique meeting point for music lovers and young people. In an innovative action for sensitization to noise reduction, a "Silent Disco" takes place on the meadow next to the skate park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This is not only an opportunity to celebrate, but also a step in the right direction to sharpen the awareness of disturbances in nature.
Initiatives for a harmonious coexistence
The Silent Disco is organized by various actors, including the park support team from Think Si3, the Outreach Mobile Youth Work Berlin and the team from Sound of Silence, in cooperation with the district office Pankow. Manuela Anders-Granitzki, the district councilor for order and public space, emphasizes: "It is important to show people how to deal responsibly with public space. Our event should focus on the respectful handling of nature and at the same time do not neglect the fun."
The Skate Contest: A foretaste of the evening
In the afternoon, visitors can experience a skate contest in the skate park, which is traditionally organized by Outreach. Here young people aged 12 to 25 have the opportunity to show their skills. Registration for this starts at 12 p.m., while the contest starts at 2 p.m., also free of charge. This preliminary event not only offers an athlete's stage, but also promotes the sense of community in the region.
But what exactly is a Silent Disco? Participants receive special headphones that enable them to choose from three different music channels. Whether electronic beats or well-known pop hits-everyone can pursue their musical preferences without disturbing the calm of other park visitors. This not only promotes fun, but also a respectful coexistence in nature.
Why this type of events is important
at a time when the noise level in cities continuously increases, it is essential that such initiatives are launched. They contribute to promoting a harmonious neighborhood and sensitization to environmentally conscious behavior. Events such as the Silent Disco not only offer entertainment, but also a dialogue about dealing with public space.
Participation in the Silent Disco and the Skate Contest is free of charge and does not require prior registration, which makes the event accessible to everyone. Combined with the focus on community and respect for the environment, this is a welcome opportunity for people in Pankow to spend time together and at the same time transmit important messages.
