Refurbishment of the Wilhelmsruher See: Small and ecological restoration by 2025

"Environmental protection has started in Wilhelmsruh"

A groundbreaking initiative to improve environmental conditions in Wilhelmsruh has started. The Wilhelmsruher See is currently freed from a sludge layer that has been accumulated over the years. This process helps to improve the water quality and the ecological diversity of the lake.

A special amphibian vehicle was used to suck off about 2,700 cubic meters of sludge. The mud is then dried through a mobile drainage system and brought to a recycling center. Before that, numerous waste such as plywood, household waste as well as bicycles and garden furniture had to be removed from the sea base.

The sludge of the lake was a prerequisite for further measures to revitalize the water. Measures to restore a near -natural flat banks are already planned to create habitats for fish, water birds, insects and amphibians.

The ecological upgrading of Lake Wilhelmsruher is a significant step with regard to environmental protection and the preservation of biodiversity in the region. This project is financed by the special fund of infrastructure of the growing city and the Siwana sustainability fund.
