In Pankow the rainbow flag is blowing: Hissing the "Pride Pride Flag" on July 22nd at the Rathaus Pankow

July 22 marks a special event in Pankow, Berlin. On this day, the new "Pride Pride Flag" is being raised at the Rathaus Pankow to emphasize the diversity and visibility of queer, trans* and inter* people as well as black and people of color.

The district mayor of Pankow, Dr. Cordelia Koch, and the queer representative Jenny Bluhm invite all interested parties to a solemn ceremony in front of the Pankow town hall on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 12 noon. Special guests such as Alfonso Pantisano, contact person for Queeres Berlin, and Alexander Scheld from the lesbian and gay association Berlin/Brandenburg will also be present.

The message behind the new flag is clear: The focus is on diversity in Pankow, and the hoist of this special flag is set by a clear statement for democracy and human rights.

It is important that every person, regardless of gender, sexual orientation or skin color, is visible and respected in society. The "Progress Pride Flag" represents this commitment and openness of the Pankow district.

The official raging of the flag also shows solidarity with the queer community and other marginalized groups in Pankow. It is a symbol of unity and cohesion in the community.

The rainbow flag has been present before the administrative locations in Pankow since the beginning of July. Unfortunately, the flag in front of the Weißensee town hall was stolen on July 10th. The authorities have taken over the investigation to clarify the incident.

The district officer of the district, Jenny Bluhm, is available for further information and inquiries. Interested parties can find out more at jenny.bluhm@ba-pankow.berlin.de or on the website www.berlin.de/ba-pankow/queer/
