New quarters on Breite Straße: Pankow's long wait is over!

On the site of the former department store on Breite Straße in 13187 Berlin, a new quarter is being developed that will create many opportunities for residents. How Berlin.de reported, the property owner and the Pankow district have signed an urban development agreement to advance the development plan 3-35 “Breite Straße”. The aim is to create building rights for a district with small-scale uses and apartments on Schulstrasse.

This step comes after a long wait for the citizens of Pankow. Cornelius Bechtler, the district councilor for urban development and citizen services, emphasized that residents have been waiting for this development. Particularly important are the planned dining facilities and a town square that will be built near Bleichröder Park. Fritjof Nagel, head of real estate development at ANH Hausimmobilien, has already announced discussions with potential tenants, which also include the Kaffee Kraft neighborhood.

Citizen participation and interactive maps

Citizen participation in the development plan is planned for this year. This will give residents the opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns. This is an important aspect of urban development as it involves bringing the voice of the population into the planning process.

There is also an interactive map that shows current development plans in the Pankow district. Loud Pankower Allgemeine Zeitung Users can zoom on this map to obtain comprehensive information on building rights projects, including the development plan number and construction status. Each construction project is provided with a link to a PDF file of the respective B-Plan, making the information accessible in the Berlin city information system.

These urban development initiatives show that Pankow is planning for the future and actively involving residents in the process. The combination of new housing and usage options as well as the involvement of citizens could change the district sustainably.
