Women walk: journey of discovery on Pankow's remarkable women

Discovery of history: Women in the focus of the Women's Walk in Pankow Süd

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. , the district of Pankow invites you to a special event that is intended to raise awareness of the important roles of women in the history of this region. The women's neighborhood walk offers the participants the opportunity to get to know the stories of remarkable women who are honored by street names or plaques in the Pankow Süd district.

The walk, which will take about two hours and begins in the Heinz-Knobloch-Park , on Berliner Strasse / corner of Masurenstrasse in 13187 Berlin, is a free event where no prior registration is necessary. This initiative is part of the commitment of the equal opportunities officers of the Pankow district office and is supported by the "Spursing Search" working group of the Pankow women's advisory board.

As part of the walk, the life stories of different women are presented. These include the Swedish philanthropine Elsa Brandström as well as the famous actresses Greta Garbo and asta Nielsen . The works of the writers Inge Müller and Selma Lagerlöf are also recognized, while the trade unionist Gertrud Hanna and many other women are also part of these exciting stories.
