Finally the Kiezbus rolls: Blankenburg gets new connection!
After long 15 years of preliminary planning, the new Kiezbus from Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), line 358, is finally taking up its business - on December 16, 2024 in Blankenburg, a district of Pankow. This long -awaited connection ensures that residents can count on improved local transport connections. Finally you can rely on the bus to get your destination and no longer only have to rely on the car or cover long distances on foot, as berlin-live.de reported.
The new bus line runs on weekdays in two routes that are created west and east of the S-Bahn route and connect the residential areas with the S-Bahn station Blankenburg. A total of 16 new bus stops have been set up, which initially exist provisionally. However, these should offer a permanent connection in the long term with comprehensive road renovation, as the Pankow district office emphasized in a message. The costs for the construction work amount to around 166,600 euros, which were provided by the Senate, which underlines the urgency of this measure, as The Kiezbus, a so-called "City-Keinbus" with 23 seats, will drive from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. This is a crucial step to improve mobility in the region and to expand public transport in the north of Pankow. Further developments in mobility planning are in the starting blocks that are intended to support future improvements in local transport in the entire region.
