Discover the variety of ground: New educational project starts in Pankow
A look at the "Local and Global" project in Pankow
In September 2024, the internal "soil variety of land and global" in Pankow is launched, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of floors and its diversity. A combination of different educational formats should not only impart knowledge about soils, but also promote critical examination of global topics.
Particular attention is paid to the commitment of children and adolescents. The project is realized by the Coordination Office for environmental education Pankow in cooperation with the Pankow City Library and receives support from various partners such as the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and Environment and the State Office for Development Cooperation. The aim of this initiative is to encourage young people to actively deal with the advancing climate crisis and individual consumption behavior.
As part of the project, special experience backpacks are developed that contain explorer arches. These materials invite you to research the meaning of the soil as a essential livelihood and to take a new perspective on dealing with resources. The discoverers were created by Pindactica e.V. and are based on the approach of discovering learning. Schoolchildren should not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also gain practical experience in nature.
Manuela Anders-Granitzki, district councilor for order and public space, emphasizes: "The project offers a great way to sensitize the youngest in particular to the respectful use of finite resource soil. The experience in nature is conveyed alive and memorable."
The starting signal for the education initiative is given on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Heinrich Böll Library in Berlin. The event also includes a press appointment in which important aspects of the project are presented. At a time when environmental awareness is becoming increasingly important, this initiative represents a step in the right direction and could serve as a model for further educational projects in the nationwide context.
Public participation in the event is recommended. Interested parties can register at the Coordination Center Environmental Education Pankow to learn more about the project and the opportunities to participate.
