Pankow celebrates the environmental heroes: awarded prices for creative projects!

Berlin, Deutschland - On July 2, 2025, the district councilor (BVV) in Pankow awarded the environmental prices that are under the motto "My contribution to Pankower Natur". This initiative aims to motivate citizens to reflect on their influence on the environment and the implementation of corresponding improvements. Participants were not only children and adults, but also neighborhoods, project groups from schools and daycare centers as well as self -organized groups.

The award ceremony awarded a total of six winners, including the “Golden Cross” hiking price, which is endowed with 800 euros. This went to the Kita Villa Heimat for the “Be Smart Cares” project. In addition, the Pankower Environmental Prize of 600 euros was awarded to three other award winners. The Environment AG of the elementary school Alt-Karow, the Kita Sorpresa with its project "From the idea to the crime" and the Stadtnatur-Ranger Pankow with its project "Die Junior-Ranger Pankow" received this award.

Furthermore, two further prices of 200 euros were awarded. They went to Julia Scholz for their commitment to the Naschgarten Berlin-Buch and the HoodCompost group, a collective for composting. The BVV Pankow congratulated all award winners and also thanked everyone who had applied for an award.

Review of the past award

Already on June 14, 2023, the award ceremony for the Pankow environmental award "Goldener Köte" took place. This event, which took place before a public conference of BVV Pankow, had the motto "Pankow saves energy and other resources - who does what?" And called the citizens to develop innovative projects and ideas. The award winner of the hiking price, which is endowed with 1,500 euros, was the Department of Natural Sciences of the Robert Havemann Gymnasium with his project "Energy saving at school".

The last award ceremony took place on October 27, 2024 in Mainz, and the next one is planned for October 26, 2025 in Chemnitz.
