The employees of the Neuköllner Grünfärfärfärfärfärge office found a dead swag on Monday in Neuköllner Hasenheide, which, according to initial assessments, was identified as four meters long tiger python. Even if the python was hardly active or moving due to the cool temperatures, the Neukölln official veterinarians examined the animal, ordered an autopsy in the Landeslabor Berlin-Brandenburg and initiated further examinations. tiger pythons are retreat and are considered to be human. Due to their length, which can be well over 2 meters, they may only be kept with a permit by the responsible veterinary authority, which is regularly checked. However, the Neukölln district office has not known a approved attitude of tiger pythons in the district. Therefore, further investigations on the possible origin of the animal were initiated, with the Berlin police also asked for support.
The emaciated state of the python found gives cause for concern, and as part of the autopsy, the exact species should be determined, the cause of death and gender should be examined. A result is expected at the beginning of next week. The Neukölln district office calls the population for help and asks for relevant information on the origin of the animal and possible observations in the Hasenheide. Information can be sent by email to vetleb@bezirkamt-neukoelln.de and are treated confidentially.
