Literature connects: Alina Bronsky reads from Pi Mal Faumen in Neukölln
Karl-Marx-Str. 66, 12043 Berlin, Deutschland - On May 31, 2025, the Helene Nathan library in Neukölln will be the focus of literary encounters when the event series "Berlin reads a book 2025". As part of this initiative, Alina Bronsky will read from her new work "Pi Mal Thumb". The reading begins at 11 a.m. and is part of a wider program that will take place throughout Berlin from May 25th to June 8th, 2025.
The concern of this event is clear: Literature should create connections between people in different areas of life. Alina Bronsky's book describes an extraordinary friendship between Moni, a 53-year-old math student, and Oscar, a highly gifted 16-year-old noble who appears here as a new subway. Topics such as courage, new beginnings and the power of the encounter are in focus and invite you to profound discussions. Admission is free, however, registration is required, which can be made by phone or email (030/90239 4313) [zlb.de] .
Berlin is considered one of the most important centers for literary work. The city has a rich literary tradition, which was shaped by historical greats such as Rahel Varnhagen, Theodor Fontane and Bertolt Brecht. There are numerous events that take place in all parts of Berlin and celebrate the variety of literature. Book presentations, symposia and workshops are just a few of the formats that shape the literary life of the capital. An annual highlight is the International Literature Festival Berlin, which is organized in autumn in various locations in the city [visitberlin.de] .
Overall, “Berlin reads a book 2025” not only offers an opportunity to explore new literary terrain, but also to actively participate in the connection via literature and to share your own view and experience.
