Belarusian artists: Inside in exile - exhibition in the gallery in the Körnerpark
The gallery in the Körnerpark, in cooperation with the Prater Gallery and the Goethe-Institut in exile, the exhibition "Sometimes I stick to the air-Belarusian artists: inside exile". This exhibition shows works by young Belarus artists: inside who fled into exile in 2020 after the civil society protests in Belarus. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the gallery in the Körnerpark.
The protests in Belarus in 2020, which became a cry for freedom, led to massive changes in the life of many artists: inside and cultural workers. Many of them were arrested and put into prison. After their release, they fled into exile before further punishments. The exhibition shows the works of these artists: inside and illuminates their experiences and emotions in connection with their exile.
The exhibition "Sometimes I stick to the air" presents works by Alexander Adamov, Rozalina Busel, Anastazja Palczukiewicz, Vasilisa Palianina, Lesia Pcholka, Nadya Sayapina, Antanina Slabodchykava, Varvara Sudnik and Aliaxey Talstou. Each work of art addresses the experiences of the artists in an individual way: inside in exile and the political change in Belarus.
The exhibition is curated by Katharina von Hagenow, Uladzimir Hramovich and Paulina Olszewska. It is a cooperation project of the gallery in the Körnerpark, the Prater Gallery and the Goethe Institute in exile. The event is funded by the Goethe Institute, the district office Neukölln, the district office Pankow and the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
In addition to the exhibition, various events and workshops with the Belarusian artists take place: inside. These offer visitors the opportunity to get to know the artists: to deal with their work.
The exhibition "Sometimes I stick to the air" is an important platform to present the experiences and perspectives of Belarusian artists: inside exile and to draw the public aware of the political developments in Belarus. It underlines the importance of art as a means of free thinking and resistance to oppression and violence.
