New Year's resolutions in Berlin: Why success often does not occur

Again and again people start to put their good resolutions into practice, especially for New Year. But not everyone knows how it works! As the Berliner Zeitung reported as a fitness city: with 45th place from 50 in the Fitness studio density is clearly behind. While only one gym is coming to 13,508 Berlin citizens, the national average is 7,231 inhabitants per studio. In January the New Year's resolutions overfill the studios and bring a breath of fresh air, but the rest of the year often remains empty.

The tradition of good intentions is much older and goes back in religious customs, as the National Geographic . The search for self -improvement did not only began in the new year, but was deeply rooted in the Christian religions, with numerous transitional times a year that imposed people to question their behavior. Historically acted religious festivals as addressees for good resolutions and influenced people's actions. However, while religious ideals were in the foreground, the focus has changed: Nowadays, intentions to self -optimization and the pursuit of social norms are targeting.

good resolutions - chance or risk?

One of the greatest hurdles when implementing these resolutions is the large number of contrary conditions that people often overlook. Prof. Dr. Dieter Frey from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich explains that time pressure and lack of discipline often lead to failures. There are ways to really achieve these goals: If you formulate your resolutions clearly and positively, you have higher chances of success. Studies show that "proximity -oriented resolutions", how "I will do more sports" are more effective than the avoidingly oriented, such as "I will eat less". Besides the Formulation, Frey Emphasises that Tackle, Creating Favorable Conditions and Receiving Support from Others Can Contribute Significantly to Success. In order to actually realize the good intentions this year, patience and constant reflection on your own goals.
