New district Alt-Wittenau: 105 apartments for students and trainees are building in cooperation with Gesobau AG

Today, an important milestone was set in the Alt-Wittenau district in Berlin-Reinickendorf: together with high-ranking guests such as Christian Gaebler, the Senator for Urban Development, Building and Living, as well as Emine Demirbüken-Wegner, the district mayor of Reinickendorf, and Jörg Franzen, the CEO of Gesobau AG, laid the foundation for a new residential project.

The Alt-Wittenau district will include 105 brand new apartments and offer a total of 242 living spaces for students and trainees. The apartments are supported by the Senate Department via the "Young Living RL 2023" funding guideline and built by the project developer Immrojekt Development GmbH & Co. Roedernallee KG.

The accommodations consist of 1-room apartments and 2 to 4-shared apartments and will each be equipped with their own bathrooms and installation kitchens. In addition to the private rooms, common rooms for learning, playing and community activities as well as household rooms are available for washing the laundry. New commercial space is also planned on the ground floor of the building, which enable residents to supply food and drugstore.

Senator Christian Gaebler emphasized the importance of this project for providing attractive and affordable living space for young people in Berlin. District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner emphasized that the new range of houses for students and trainees in Reinickendorf creates a variety of opportunities for encounters and shared experiences. Jörg Franzen, CEO of Gesobau AG, emphasized that the Alt-Wittenau district aimed to offer young adults a safe and affordable home based on the experience of the successful Gesocampus in Hellersdorf.

The district of Alt-Wittenau is expected to be an important enrichment for the living situation of students and trainees in Berlin. Further information on the housing construction project is available on the Gesobau website at www.gesobau.de/wohnungsbau/quartier-alt-Wittenau.
