New drug consumer in Görlitzer Park offers hygienic consumption under medical supervision

New offer for drug users in Görlitzer Park

The Görlitzer Park in Berlin now has a new offer of help for drug users. A drug consuming mobile was used there to enable the hygienic consumption of substances under medical supervision. This mobile was previously stationed in Neukölln in Hermannstrasse in front of the Anita-Berber-Park.

The offer provided by Fixpunkt e.V. offers a total of four places for intravenous or inhalative consumption every day from Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The drug consuming mobile is accompanied by a contact and advisory vehicle, which can also be found behind house 2 (former Café Edelweiß) from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is primarily geared towards the target group of drug-consuming people in Görlitzer Park and the surrounding area. The funding is carried out by the Senate Department for Science, Health and Care.

With this measure there is now three help offers for drug users in the social area "Kottbusser Tor - Görlitzer Park - Wrangelkiez". These offers not only include advice and placement in further aids, but also offer the possibility of hygienic consumption. Another goal of the program is to relieve the public areas around Görlitzer Park, which are particularly affected by drug use.
