New meeting point for Hellersdorf youth: Senfen 10 is modernized!

Senftenberger Straße 10, 12627 Berlin, Deutschland - The youth leisure facility "Senfen 10", located at Senftenberger Straße 10 in Berlin-Hellersdorf, has been an important point of contact for sports and cultural people for over 25 years. The facility attracts around 1,000 visitors every year. The foundation for a comprehensive expansion of the facility has now been laid, which Gordon Lemm, the district councilor for youth, family and health, was announced. The aim is to further develop Senfen 10 into a sports -oriented meeting point for the youth.

The existing building, which was built in 1989 and has been operated by Kids & Co since 1997, is not only expanded, but also transformed into an energy -efficient house. A new 770 m² new wooden building with a gable roof will create additional rooms for leisure activities. The planning comes from the Schwind & Wolf architectural partnership and places a strong focus on sustainability. This is reflected in measures such as the reuse of load -bearing components and the use of dismantling wood materials.

sustainability measures and retention systems

A central element of the project is the newly planned retention roof that holds back water and delayed the sewage system delayed. This measure takes into account the increasing challenges of urban rainwater management and environmental problems, which are reinforced by urbanization and the increase in sealed areas. Multifunctional rainwater retention systems, as used as part of this project, offer many advantages: they reduce flooding risk and improve water quality through effective pollutant filtering.

In the context of these sustainable approaches, lounge and movement rooms are also created inside the facility, including a spacious foyer and a ring-shaped system. Offers such as the free rental of sports equipment, fitness rooms, graffiti workshops as well as a newly built skate park system on the berry paw trench complement the extensive range of leisure activities.

integration into the district

The expansion of the Senfen 10 fits seamlessly into the newly created “Stadtgut Hellersdorf” district, in which Gesobau builds around 1,500 affordable apartments. This emphasizes the need to improve living conditions in urban areas through sustainable urban development. The integration of leisure rooms that are accessible to all residents is of central importance. The comparison between current and future quality of life is crucial for the acceptance of these projects.

The need for sustainable urban development is also illustrated by the increasing challenges in cities, where over 75 % of the German population lives. Political and social sensitivity to this topic increases, but the practical implementation often remains inadequate. The focus should not only be on the technical equipment, but also on social sustainability in order to take into account all city dwellers, especially low -income households.
