The question of whether Annalena Baerbock will again compete as a candidate for Chancellor for Bündnis 90/Die Greens employs the political landscape. Now Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck commented on this topic. He emphasized that the decision about the candidate for the chancellor had not yet been made, but there was no automatism that Baerbock would start again.

The discussions within the Green Party and with the alliance partners are still in progress. It is expected that due to the internal struggle for the candidacy, a decision will only be made in the coming weeks. Habeck explained that the Greens want to move into the election campaign with a clear programmatic offer, regardless of who is ultimately nominated as a candidate for chancellor.

Baerbock itself has so far explained that she would be ready for another candidate for chancellor. But the final decision lies with the party committees and is made in a democratic process. The outcome of this decision remains open for the time being and will continue to shape political discussions.
