New Strasse for the east of Berlin: TVO project reaches important phase
According to a report by www.berliner-zeitung.de, the approval process for the planned Tangential connection East (TVO) has started a new road between Marzahn and Köpenick. The project is to relieve the parallel traffic routes that lead in the middle of residential areas. BVG buses are also said to drive on the new road. The plans stipulate that passengers in Biesdorf-Süd and Wuhlheide can switch to the U- and S-Bahn. The cost of the project was estimated at 350 million euros. Senator Manja Schreiner has announced that the construction can begin in 2025 or 2026 and that the construction period could be seven years, which would mean that the new North-Süd-Straße will not be released for traffic until 2032 or 2033.
The construction of the TVO and the associated forest flow could have local effects on the environment of the East Berlin. The planned road leads to the fact that 15.8 hectares of forest should be felled. There are also controversial discussions about the relocation of the long -distance railway, which triggers additional investments and the resistance of environmental protection organizations. It can be expected that the construction work and subsequent traffic could affect the quality of life and environmental impact in the affected residential areas.
Furthermore, plans for another local transport stall in the east of Berlin are under discussion, which have so far not been clearly specified. A possible traffic projects could sometimes lead to increased accessibility locally to increased noise loads.
Overall, the traffic project for the east of Berlin, the tangential connection east, is a controversial topic that could have an impact on both local and national level.
