New platform newsheroes of BDZV - media literacy in schools promote

As a citizen of Berlin, one is aware of the importance of media and news competence in the digital information society. Against the background of the widespread disinformation, the conveying of the correct handling of news is of crucial importance. It is therefore gratifying to see that the Federal Association of Digital Publisher and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) has created a central contact point for teachers and multipliers with the new "Newsheroes" platform to promote media education projects of newspaper publishers.

The website www.newshheroes.de is the focus of this initiative and informs about the various media education projects of local media houses and educational institutions. By searching for postcoals, teachers and multipliers can easily determine which offers of publishers are available on site. In addition, exemplary materials are available in a database that can be used in class, such as videos, worksheets and handouts. A regular newsletter informs about the offers of the local news media.

It is particularly gratifying that the "Newsheroes" platform is designed and updated by Jule: Initiative Young Readers. This initiative is the knowledge network of the newspaper publication on the subject of young target groups. It bundles existing knowledge and experiences of the newspapers and networked the members to promote the topic of young target groups. This shows that Berlin newspaper publishers actively work for the promotion of media literacy and news of news in young people.

In the table, some local media projects and educational offers from newspaper positions in Berlin are listed:

| Verlag | Project name | Target group |
| —————- | ——————- | --——————— |
| Berliner Zeitung | "Reading compass" | Elementary school age |
| Tagesspiegel | "Youth Journalism" | Young people and school newspaper editors |
| Berliner Morgenpost | "Media workshops" | School classes of all ages |

The "Newsheroes" platform is therefore a unique and clear bundling of the diverse, nationwide available and locally oriented school projects of the newspapers. She helps young people to learn how to deal with news and find out critical and independently. Berlin teachers and journalists and journalists play a crucial role as "newsheroes in real life". With their commitment, they contribute to the fact that the media literacy of the young generation is promoted and disinformation have no chance.
