New costs for school trips in Berlin decided - what is changing for students and parents?

according to a report by www.tagesspiegel.de , the Senate Department for Education has decided on new costs for school trips. From November 1st, primary school trips for classes 1 to 3 to 335 euros and for classes 4 to 6 up to 415 euros may cost. Before that, only 300 euros had been approved. The upper limits for middle classes (class 7 to 10) were reduced to 550 euros for standard trips, while travel in high school up to 850 euros and student exchange trips to non -European countries may cost up to 1450 euros.

In Berlin, this measure is expected to expand the selection of school trips, since the previous cost limits have severely restricted the options. Elementary schools will thus be able to offer more attractive and diverse travel destinations, which could have a positive effect on the education experience of the students. In addition, the new upper limits can help to ensure a fairer participation in the school trip offer. This is particularly important because such experiences can promote understanding of other cultures, the development of social skills and intercultural learning.
