New construction sites in Mitte and Lower Schöneweide: Berliners have to expect traffic disruptions again

Berlin without construction sites? That remains a dream for the time being. Because from Thursday there will be two new construction sites in the Mitte and Niederschöneweide districts that will affect traffic. According to a report by berliner-kurier.de, an existing track construction site will be converted at the Prenzlauer Allee/Mollstraße/Karl-Liebknecht-Straße/Torstraße in Mitte. For about three weeks there will be only one lane in both directions, and it will not be possible to turn left towards Prenzlauer Allee. Furthermore, the construction site on Michael-Brückner-Straße is being rebuilt in Niederschöneweide. By mid -2024, only one lane will be available between Brückenstraße and Sterndamm, while the existing reduction on two lanes will be retained out of town.

Such construction sites are unfortunately not uncommon in Berlin and regularly lead to traffic jams and traffic disruptions. On Thursday morning there was already a traffic jam on the B96a Michael-Brückner-Straße in Niederschöneweide. Work is also planned on the A100 motorway. Marking work takes place on the A100 towards Neukölln between Kaiserdamm and Kaiserdamm-Süd. There is currently only the right lane available there, which will lead to further traffic impairments.

For Berliners, this means again to plan more time for their trips and adjust to traffic jams and possible detours. The many construction sites represent a challenge for traffic, but they are necessary to improve and maintain the city's infrastructure.
