New partnership between the library and zoo promotion association: connecting education and species protection

In a groundbreaking decision, the Bodo-Uhse library in Friedrichsfelde and the support association of Tierpark and Zoo Berlin e.V. signed a cooperation agreement on June 20, 2024, which made an idea from the 1980s to become a reality. This collaboration is intended to link education and protection of species even more closely in order to sensitize the public to the importance of nature and species protection.

The Bodo-Uhse library, named after the founder of the zoo and in the immediate vicinity of the zoo, will work closely with the support association in the future. The aim is to use synergies to strengthen the awareness of environmental issues and promote volunteering. A special media tower in the library, which is dedicated to the topic "Tierpark and Zoo in Berlin", is only an example of the diverse new offers that should be created in the future.

District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) was enthusiastic about the cooperation: "The combination of the media and rooms of the library in cooperation with the support association is an important step to motivate citizens to actively protect the environment.

Valentina then, the provisional director of the Bodo-Uhse library, was also pleased with the new partnership: "After 40 years, we can finally redeem the promise that was given at the time. The cooperation opens up exciting opportunities to combine education and species protection and create innovative offers for our users."

Thomas Ziolko, Chairman of the Association of Tierpark and Zoo Berlin e.V., emphasized the importance of the agreement: "With this cooperation we not only make a promise from the past, but also set new standards in our species protection work. We would like to conduct an open dialogue with the population and further strengthen awareness of environmental issues."

The cooperation between the library and the Zoo Förderverein not only creates innovative educational offers, but also new opportunities for volunteering. This partnership marks an important step in the direction of a more networked and more conscious society that is committed to protecting our environment.
