On October 9, 2023 in Berlin, Pharma Germany's sustainability prize was presented for the second time. This important award recognizes companies that contribute to the protection of our environment through innovative solutions and environmentally friendly practices. The focus of this year was the winners Pekana, Hexal-Sandoz and Red List Service GmbH, whose initiatives are exemplary for the efforts of the entire industry.

Dorothee Brakmann, general manager of Pharma Germany, emphasized the exemplary role of companies in the changeover to sustainable production methods at the award ceremony. Pekana: Pioneer in climate protection

Pekana, based in Kisslegg, was recognized for his active participation in environmental initiatives, in particular through his measures in the Baden-Württemberg climate alliance. The use of renewable energies and the reduction of CO2 emissions show the successful path of the company to climate neutrality until 2040. Such steps are crucial to achieve the nationwide goal of climate neutrality.

hexal-sandoz: exemplary antibiotic production

The new antibiotic work from Hexal-Sandoz in Kundl, Austria, received special recognition for its environmentally friendly production. With the BSI certification, the work stands out by ensuring that no potentially harmful active ingredients get into the environment. This certification sets standards for other companies in the industry and shows that ecological and economic goals do not have to contradict.

Red List Service GmbH: Digitization for sustainability

The Red List Service GmbH received the "Digitization acceleration" for their innovative approach to analyze ecological footprints of package supplements. The developed CO2 calculator ensures that digital solutions are implemented to reduce ecological footprint. This is a significant step into the future and shows that digitization can be pioneering for sustainable trends in the pharmaceutical industry.
