Change of mobility: Everyday life easier than on vacation - the ADAC survey reveals trends

An exciting look at mobility: A brand new ADAC survey has uncovered how much the choice of our means of transport is different in everyday life and in leisure time! While cars remain the undisputed stars on the streets, the results show surprising turns when people start on vacation.

The car remains the most used means of transport, but on vacation there is a noticeable decline of 24 percent. Anyone who thinks that the plane takes over the entire control is wrong! The train also grabs part of the cake and is used by a proud 14 percent more often on vacation than in everyday life. An unexpected trend!

The willingness to change

But what about the willingness to change? The survey clearly shows that in everyday life people are much more willing to change their mobility habits than on vacation. After all, more than half of the respondents indicate that they are willing to travel by train for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle - a small step in the right direction! Against this background, the drive transition gains enormous importance. E-mobility and alternative fuels are very popular! 45 percent of the respondents see the switch to environmentally friendly drives as the key to achieving the climate goals. Big cities and young adults are particularly open to these changes.

For many, however, the question of the costs is crucial. The survey shows that the increase in mobility will hardly lead to people switching voluntarily to environmentally friendly options. On vacation most are ready to pay less, even if this means to travel less environmentally friendly - climate -skeptical settings that are often justified with "I just want to relax".

The responsibility of the actors

When asked who should be responsible for change, the opinions are clear: the state is seen as the main responsible. Companies follow in the places and the individual behavior, whereby older people are more willing to emphasize their own efforts, while younger adults are more likely to locate responsibility in the economy.

ADAC Tourism President Karl-Heinz Jungbeck sums it up: "To achieve real changes, both offers and communication have to be improved. We must not underestimate people's vacation habits-they are an essential part of the mobility debate!"

A passionate appeal for more environmentally friendly mobility!
