Cooperation for the lively center and district of Potsdamer Straße

Cooperation for the lively center and district of Potsdamer Straße
cooperation agreement on urban development in Berlin signed
On July 12, 2024, the district offices Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Mitte from Berlin signed a pioneering cooperation agreement for the urban development of Potsdamer Straße. This agreement marks a decisive step in the cooperation between the two districts in order to develop the area together and implement sustainable measures.
The “Living Center and Quartier” (LZQ) Potsdamer Straße faces a variety of urban challenges that need to be addressed. These include, among other things, the high traffic stress along Potsdamer Straße and Bülowstraße, the increased risk of flood for heavy rain due to the high level of sealing and adapting the social infrastructure to new needs.
The cooperation agreement is not only an important step for urban development, but also a signal for the cross -district thinking and acting. The cooperation between Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Mitte will help to significantly improve the quality of life and to find sustainable solutions for the challenges of the area.
public participation as a central element
As part of the urban development program "Living centers and quarters", an integrated urban development concept (ISEK) is created in order to develop the area sustainably and to increase the quality of life. A central element of this project is the comprehensive participation of the public. Residents and interested parties are actively involved in the planning process to ensure that the measures meet the needs and wishes of the community.
collaboration for a positive urban development
The signing of the cooperation agreement laid the foundation for the cooperation of the districts of Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Mitte in this cross-district area. The Mitte district office takes on the leading organizational role in the creation of ISEK, while both districts are involved in the content on an equal footing.
This cooperation marks an important step for the positive urban development on Potsdamer Straße and shows how sustainable solutions for urban planning can be found through joint efforts.
