Urban tournaments for UEFA Euro 2024: street football for young people in Berlin Mitte

The district councilor for youth, family and health, Christoph Keller, has recently announced that Berlin will host UEFA Euro 2024. The ambassadors of the tournament, Cèlia Šašić and Philip Lahm, emphasized that the European Championship is associated with hopes and dreams and that topics such as diversity, equality, climate justice, sustainability and nutrition are of great importance. These aspects are deepened in various promotions and workshops as part of the "When the record burns" in Berlin Mitte.

A central focus of the project is on street football, which stands out from commercial football and offers young people the opportunity to play with each other without pressure to perform. The social status, role expectations, problems or fears play no role on the pitch.

The Kinder- und Jugendbüro Berlin Mitte will organize urban tournaments for young people in the Mitte district during the UEFA Euro Euro Euro. Workshops and actions are also planned for sustainable alternatives in relation to sports clothing and nutrition. In addition, there will be joint film events with self -created reels or films of global initiatives that are committed to gender -friendly, fair and sustainable sport.

City Councilor Christoph Keller emphasizes that sport not only means fun with movement and competition, but also conveys important values ​​such as fairness, community and tolerance. He is happy about the multi -layered project that brings young people together in Berlin Mitte as part of the UEFA Euro 2024 and creates spaces for exchange.

The project is funded by the Senate Department for Interior as part of the implementation of the sustainability mission statement to the UEFA Euro 2024.
