Techno meets ballet: Berlin's spectacular dance premiere in the power plant!

On December 5, 2024, Berlin Ballet Company will present its exciting new production "A Techno Ballet Odyssey" in the Mitte power plant. The premiere of this important production, which consists of former members of the state ballet, begins at 6:30 p.m. Under the direction of choreographers Arshak Ghalumyan and Alexander Abdukarimov, the work combines impressive top dance with the pulsating energy of techno music, which was recently appointed UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ghalumyan and Abdukarimov, who developed the idea on an inspiring trip to Greece, allow the 1100 spectators to flow through the three stages of the event while enjoying the breathtaking performances. "We wanted to capture the essence of Berlin and tell the story with modern elements," explains Ghalumyan, who found a true Odysseus in Lucio Vidal, who is on stage together with several talented dancers.

a masterpiece of emotions

The new work of Ghalumyan and Abdukarimov promises to captivate the spectators by rapidly changing struggle, passion and hope. The two choreographers who often work together claim that the choreography is only the tip of the iceberg of the creative processes. While you don't have time for techno parties yourself, you encourage the audience to move and dance during the performance. "The audience just not allowed on the stages, that would be too dangerous," they joke.

At the same time, the artists of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin inspire the audience with another emotional highlight. Today at 5 p.m., Tenor Kieran Carrel, together with the pianist Pauli Jämsä, will perform Robert Schumann's important song collection "Liederkreis op.39" in the rank foyer. This composition, which is deeply rooted in Schumann's romantic biography, tells the changeable emotions of loneliness and falling in love with gorgeous melody through twelve poems by Joseph von Eichendorff. Schumann's work is considered his most important song collection and reflects both personal and musical highlights of his life. Kieran Carrel, who is celebrated as Tamino in the "Magic Flute" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, is a sought-after song and concert soloist and brings the emotional depth of Schumann's music closer to the audience
