New art project in Moabit: Galerie Nord is looking for innovative talents!

Turmstraße 75, 10551 Berlin, Deutschland - On June 6, 2025, the district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, announced the opening of an expression of interest for the North Gallery. This initiative, which was launched by the Department of Art, Culture and History of the Mitte district, aims to further develop the exhibition company in the North Gallery, located at Turmstraße 75, 10551 Berlin. In particular, a diverse and inclusive art program should be promoted. The North Gallery has established itself as an important platform for young artists since it was founded over 30 years ago.

The procedure includes the provision of a fee-free exhibition area of around 207 square meters and functional rooms in the Brüder-Grimm-Haus. For the year 2026, additional project funding of € 60,500 gross is available. However, these funds depend on the release of the budget. The future of the gallery and the chance of participating in an artistic center will be awarded an additional dimension.

goals and content of the program

A central goal of the project is to connect to the local art scene and the creation of a municipal project room that presents current artistic developments in Moabit. The program of the Galerie Nord includes thematic exhibitions, interdisciplinary projects and actions in public space, therefore aims to set cultural impulses and reflect on the urban situation. Cooperation with national and international partner institutions extends the radius of action of the gallery beyond the local level, but also offers variety for different population groups.

Artistic projects and events such as performances, symposia or panel discussions that are offered in connection with the exhibitions should further deepen the mediation and discussion of artistic content. The Kunstverein Tiergarten, which was founded in 2004, also pursues similar goals and puts innovative, critical and themed artistic positions in the foreground to promote the creative potential of the region.

important dates and information

interested artists and curators can submit their applications by July 21, 2025. Advice on the procedure is possible until June 16, 2025, and the answers to frequently asked questions will be published on June 19, 2025. A viewing date of the gallery rooms is planned for June 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

The applications are viewed by an expert, interdisciplinary jury that consists of at least five people with expertise in art and exhibition and a social -spatial connection to Moabit. This should ensure that any support is well thought out and needs -oriented.

For Berlin artists and initiatives, various funding programs are also available that support projects on the visual art. The Senate Department for Culture and Europe has created the provision of funding for the implementation of projects and catalogs in Berlin. Various criteria and maximum amounts are assigned to the potential promotion of individual and group projects that are discussed transparently in the application procedure.

About the website of the Mitte District Office can be found further information and the application form to facilitate access to this relevant support offer for the art scene.

The Gallery North thus remains a key player in the art landscape of Berlin and, with this new process, sets a clear sign for the support of contemporary artists in the region.
