Sustainable future for the middle: EM future turf raffles for local institutions and new football sites!

new artificial turf pitches for the municipality in Mitte

In the months after the European Championship, the artificial turf, which was laid on the fan mile in front of the Brandenburg Gate, will meet a new purpose. The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, has announced that large parts of the artificial turf in schools, daycare centers and other institutions are distributed to promote social and ecological sustainability.

The decision to use the artificial turf on three football fields in the Mitte district is the result of negotiations between the Mitte district office and the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport. The new lawn, filled with sand, is produced climate -neutral and recyclable. The raffle of parts of the lawn will take place from August 12th to 16th, since the demand already exceeds the available supply.

The three football sites on which can soon be played on the European Championship turf are located at Rostocker Straße 44-45, Berlichingenstraße 20-22 and Levetzowstraße 7 / corner of Jagowstrasse in Berlin Mitte. Stefanie Remlinger was pleased with the sustainable use of the artificial turf and the positive impact on the local football pitches.

The initiative for redesigning the football fields shows an exemplary partnership between the Mitte district office and the Senate Department for Interior and Sport, which contributes to efficiently use and strengthen the community.

The press office of the Mitte district at press@ba-mitte.berlin.de is available for further information and inquiries. There is already great interest in the new artificial turf pitches that will contribute to joy and activity in the community.
