Advice and support for art on construction

The district office Mitte places great importance on the artistic design in public space and is advised by a knowledgeable commission. This is appointed by the district councilor responsible for culture and consists of representatives of the departments for art, culture, history, urban development, monument protection as well as street and green spaces. Members of the Commission are also artists. Your task includes advice on awarding procedures for art in building and in urban space and the development of specific tasks.

The tradition of artistic examination of the urban space in Berlin is long and is supported by the state of Berlin. The Kunsts Committee (BAK) offers the cultural administration additional support. These efforts are intended to strengthen the competition culture and promote public discourse on contemporary art in a historical and socio -political context. Works of art in urban space are not only formative, but also freely accessible and offer low -threshold access to art outside of museums.
