Middle decides to cut budgets: 10 million euros savings!
Today, on September 29, 2025, the Mitte district decided to plan financial planning for the years 2026 and 2027. The double budget was adopted by the groups of the Greens and the SPD. District Mayor Stefanie Remlinger emphasizes that savings of over 10 million euros in all business areas of the district are required to cover the additional costs for the replacement location of the mold-loaded Anna-Lindh school. Remlinger thanks everyone involved in the district office and the district council (BVV) for the successful agreement on the budget decision. The aim of the new budget is, among other things, the fight against anti -Semitism and anti -Muslim racism as well as measures against rental growers and the misuse of living space.
The plangement savings do not endanger the open offers for children, adolescents, families and seniors in the district facilities. The Mitte district is also selected as a pilot district for the "New Work" idea, which aims to use office space and human-centered plans. The accompaniment of projects and processes is a central part of this initiative to achieve synergetic effects in the administration.
Focus on social issues
As reported rbbb24, the CDU and the SPD have each planned 400 million euros for its own priorities in the double budget 2024/2025. The main priorities include strengthening the struggle against anti -Semitism and discrimination as well as investments in social infrastructure, including the Charité and the bathing businesses. The group leader of the CDU, Dirk Stettner, and the SPD parliamentary group leader Raed Saleh emphasized that there would be no "social clearcut", despite the structural deficit of three billion euros annually.
In addition, the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion presented an action fund for projects against anti -Semitism. From July 29, 2024, non-profit organizations can submit applications, whereby the deadline for early Bird applications ends by August 15th. The funded measures are intended to include political education, public events and campaigns in order to make a further contribution to sensitization and education.
Financial perspectives
The financial resources in the 2024/2025 double budget are over 40 billion euros. This represents an increase of 800 million euros compared to the original Senate draft. In order to counter the challenges of the deficit, the Senate plans to optimize areas in the administration and no longer make any new rentals. Further significant investments will flow into the improvement of rail transport as well as for traffic safety and infrastructure. The savings should also be supported by the return of non -consumed funds to the districts, which could generate up to 18 million euros per year.
Overall, the decided budget aims to ensure a fairer and future -proof development of Berlin by making targeted investments in social and cultural projects. The active involvement of the citizens in the design of city life remains a central concern of politics in Mitte.
