Reading Salman Rushdie - Knife: Intimate look behind the attack
The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, informs about a reading as part of the auditorium campaign in the Berlin-Mitte city library. On May 27, 2024, the actor and spokesman Felix von Manteuffel in the Philipp-Schaeffer library from Salman Rushdie's new work "Knife. Thoughts after an attempt to murder" will read. Rushdie was called for killing in 1989 by Iran's spiritual head and attacked on the open stage in 2022. After the reading there will be a conversation with the German translator Bernhard Robben.
The Berlin-Mitte Hörgut is an annual presentation of current audio books by numerous publishers in the Philipp-Schaeffer library. At the same time, readings of well -known actors and speakers take place. Another cultural event in Mitte is a double exhibition entitled "Coastal and City Country" in the Berolina Galerie, in which the works of the painter Renate Bauen-Bitterlich and the draftsman Manfred Rother are presented.
In addition, there is a project in the middle for renaming and realigning the white elephant gallery in Kunst Raum Mitte, led by Natalie Keppler and Agnieszka Roguski. This initiative will research the eventful history of the house. Furthermore, panel discussions, workshops, readings and exhibition tours on various historical and cultural topics are offered, including an event about the history of the Silbermann family from Wedding and a tour of places of resistance in Moabit.
